ZigBee™ is an open and globally deployable communications standard for the implementation of Wireless Personal Area Networks (WPAN).
ZigBee™ is primarily used in wireless systems where low power consumption is essential. Its applications include wireless sensor networks, building automation, and industrial monitoring and control systems.
The actual ZigBee™ standard – defined by the ZigBee™ Alliance – only specifies the network and application layer. The wireless standard comes into existence in combination with the IEEE 802.15.4 standard, which specifies the physical layer and media access control layer.
i_ZEG Development Board
The latest ZigBee™ related product from IMST Wireless Solutions is the i_ZEG development board, a compact ZigBee™-to-Ethernet gateway.
Based on the current chip set from Texas Instruments (TI), the i_ZEG board can be used with the ZigBee ™ development kit as well as the common ZigBee™ development tools by TI.
