The iM282A-L is a compact and low-cost radio module that operates in the unlicensed 2.4 GHz band and combines a powerful Cortex-M3 controller with the new ultra long range transceiver SX1280 of Semtech® Corporation.

A sensitivity of up to -130 dBm and a maximum output power of +12 dBm results in a link budget of more than 142 dB. The iM282A-L is pre-certified according the European RED guideline and it can be soldered like a SMD component.

It has been specifically designed for battery driven applications and is able to achieve without any additional amplifiers a LoS range of more than 12 km. Please refer to the corresponding Application Note.

It’s available with three protocol stack:

LR Base Plus

The WiMOD LR Base Plus firmware provides LoRa®-modem functionalities which allows to implement proprietary and cost sensitive radio networks with typical topologies like peer-to-peer and star configurations. The embedded radio protocol stack offers unacknowledged and acknowledged radio packet exchange with optional encryption and automatic power saving for battery driven applications.

The WiMOD LR Base HCI protocol is designed to expose the radio module services to an external host controller. The communication between host and the radio (WiMOD) is based on so called HCI messages which can be sent through the UART.

Semtech LoRa® 2.4 GHz stack

iM282A is compatible with the reference implementation available as open source code developed by Semtech Corporation. This can be used to design and develop your own application directly on their MCU. Herewith you will gain access to the latest released code emulating the LoRaWAN® protocol on the WW2G4 region.

The protocol version that is currently implemented in the modem emulates LoRaWAN® 1.0.3 at 2.4 GHz.

GlobalLink24

The WiMOD GlobalLink24 EndNode Modem firmware emulates a LoRaWAN® firmware at 2.4 GHz.

The WiMOD GlobalLink24 HCI protocol is designed to expose the radio module services to an external host controller. The communication between host and the radio (WiMOD) is based on so called HCI messages which can be sent through the UART.
